Overcoming the Challenges of Full-Arch Digital Scanning

Scanning All-on-X cases using a traditional intraoral scanner presents several challenges

  • Lack of natural reference points with All-on-X cases and abundance of attached mucosa.
  • Identical shaped multi-unit scan adapters often result in difficulties scanning and scanning orientation.
  • Dental technician can struggle aligning scans correctly in the software.

How DIRECTscan overcomes scanning challenges

  • Long horizontal flat shape, with individual symbols and markings to decrease the risk of losing orientation and to reproduce implant position accurately.
  • Partially covers the mucosa which facilitates the continuity of scanning, thus decreasing the risk of losing orientation by the intraoral scanner.
